Dizzy Emu Publishing's
Are you confident your screenplay would sell if it was just given a chance? Well, here is that chance!
This is not your standard screenplay contest... It’s the most exciting, refreshing and potentially rewarding contest we think you'll find, designed so that you can sell your screenplay as a paperback and as an e-book while you're participating.
Hundreds of screenwriters have already taken part in this unique screenplay contest since it launched in early 2016, with many of them appearing on Amazon's best-sellers list for screenplays, including the NUMBER ONE spot.
As soon as you enter the contest, you will become an internationally published screenwriter with Dizzy Emu Publishing
Your screenplay will be made available for sale internationally as a paperback on Amazon and as an e-book on Amazon Kindle
All writers who enter the contest receive ALL of the royalties for their screenplay’s sales, paid directly to them by Amazon
Writers retain ALL rights to their screenplay
The entry fee includes Dizzy Emu creating all cover art for the paperback and e-book versions of your screenplay (you may also submit your own cover if you prefer)
Just because the contest ends, the availability of your screenplay doesn't - it will stay published for as long as you want it to and you will remain the sole recipient of all of its sales royalties
HOW DOES THE CONTEST WORK?
All screenplays submitted are published by Dizzy Emu Publishing and made available for sale as a paperback and/or as an e-book on Amazon Kindle. Paperback copies are printed to order and are fulfilled by Amazon.
The contest is open to screenplays from all genres (comedy, fantasy, thrillers, horror, sci-fi, romance, westerns, etc). As long as it's a screenplay - short or feature-length - then it is eligible for the contest.
Published screenplays are made available for sale, priced at $2.99 for the e-book version and $9.99 for the paperback version.
Each writer is set up with their own publishing account and given full access to it on the screenplay publication date. From your publishing account you can monitor sales, update your royalty payment information, order discounted paperback copies and make changes to your screenplay's listing on Amazon. The accounts are easy and intuitive to use and come complete with Amazon customer support.
Each writer who enters receives ALL of the royalties for their sales directly from Amazon - Dizzy Emu Publishing does not take a penny. To be clear, yes - ALL writers in the contest receive ALL of their royalties, not just the winners of the contest.
Contestants are allowed to market and promote their work in any way they see fit.
SUBMISSION DATES AND CONTEST PERIODS
Current Contest - ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS NOW
Submissions: Between 18 November 2019 to 15 April 2020
Publication date: 20 April 2020
For e-book screenplay sales, writers receive approximately 70% of the sale price of $2.99.
For paperback screenplay sales, as a guide, a 100 page screenplay sold at $9.99 earns the screenwriter approximately $4.00. This is the list price minus the production costs and Amazon's commission.
Once you are given access to your publishing account, you can securely update your royalty payment information.
The overall contest winner is the writer of the top-selling screenplay in the contest period. These writers receive a full Publish & Marketing package from Dizzy Emu Publishing, worth $499.00 - this includes building you a website and making a video trailer to help you promote your screenplay.
All entrants in the contest receive their royalties in full, directly from Amazon. They also retain full control of their screenplay's rights and pricing.
